I’m back!

Hey all! Remember me?

Okay, so you probably didn’t really notice I’ve been a bit MIA for the last week, being as I’m sure you’ve been just as busy with the holidays as I have, but I’ve missed you all. Things have been pretty nuts in our household. How about you?

I’m going to give you a bit of a recap to where I’ve been. Although it’s been less then a week, it’s been some busy time away!

I got back into Ames on Tuesday afternoon. I relaxed for the most part. I was pretty tired after Christmas! Oh, and I watched A Christmas Story. I hadn’t yet had a chance to watch it, so, obviously it was on the agenda. I also wrote up my WIAW post, which is when we last spoke, I think.

On Wednesday, I did a bit here and there. Did a little work from home, some blog research/work, and then headed to the gym around 2:30. Our gym was closing early, so I needed to get there early enough to get my miles in, and got to five miles by the time they closed. Then, I left to run errands. I had an Influenster Vox Box to pick up at the post office (which you’ll hear about soon) and then I went to Target to check out the Christmas stuff they had on sale. I got quite a few items, and I’m really excited to see our tree next year. After a couple years with the same ornaments, I was ready to mix it up a bit! Errands got a little tricky when I felt a ‘pop’ on my heal, and discovered I had run a couple nasty blisters onto the back of my foot. Which were bleeding – yuck. I’ve been putting off getting new shoes, but with this, I knew it was time to bite the bullet. After I got home from errands, I chilled a bit and wrapped some gifts.

My VoxBox goodies!

Thursday, Phyll got back into town early from visiting family in Illinois. We watched a couple hours of TV, and then he went to work and I worked from home. At about 3:00, I headed to Ankeny to get my gait analyzed and pick out some new running shoes at Kyle’s Bikes. I’m really excited about the ones I picked out – review to come soon! Afterwards, I ran some other Christmas-related errands, followed by a trip to Verizon to get Phyll & I’s own gifts set up. Can you guess? We’re now owners of iPhone 4s’s! I am completely in love with it, as I knew I would be. After a few more errands, Thursday night was a whirlwind of baking.

Cinnamon Sugar Biscotti for the win!

Friday I hit the gym early and then had to go into work for a few hours. When I got home, we left right away for Des Moines to go to Phyll’s sister’s apartment and spend one last night with his mom. It was a laaaate night, and VERY early morning. (5:00 a.m., anyone? Hey, that’s early for me!).

Saturday, we dropped off Phyll’s mom at the airport, which was hard – I hate that she lives so far away. Then we headed to Pella for my mom’s Christmas. It was a lot of fun to see family. We stayed in Pella until Sunday, and then I had a girls’ shopping day with my mom and neice for her birthday/Christmas gift. We got home late on Sunday, but watched a couple movies. Have you seen the new Resident Evil movie yet? It was great!

Monday, I worked all day, and then Phyll took me out for a dinner date at Red Lobster. It was really nice to get some time to ourselves, and the food was awesome. Then we went home to have a couple drinks and watch the ball drop. This is about when things went downhill – my throat started to KILL. Sick on New Years’ Eve? Ew. Things did not improve today. I woke up sick as a dog. Throat, head…grossness. Which brings us to now – I’ve been sleeping all day. I’m really hoping to kick whatever this is by tomorrow, and definitely by Thursday, when I have to go back to work. We’ve got a company meeting all day on Friday, followed by a banquet that I’m really excited for. I don’t want to miss it, and I’ve got a lot to do to prepare before then!

Whew! That was a long recap. How was your past week? Have you been as busy as I have?

Isn’t it crazy how you don’t realize what you’ve been up to until you write it all down? And thanks, I love it!
