Simply Snackin Jerky Review & Giveaway
As someone that’s on the go a LOT (hello, commuter life!), I’ve often thought it difficult to find snacks that met all my criteria:
- Healthy (enough).
- Can survive extreme temps (hot Iowa summers in a car, cold Iowa winters … in a car).
- Also strong enough to live in a purse without the packaging disintegrating or becoming mangled.
- Pack a ‘punch’, so to speak.
I don’t have high standards, do I? It’s a battle. Most often, things that ‘last’ aren’t the healthiest because they’re made with chemicals or additives to make them last. Fresh food, that is healthy, can’t survive the elements.
It’s just hard to figure out, you know?
Then, I heard of Simply Snackin Jerky from fellow blogger Lindsay of The Lean Green Bean. Being as how she’s in school for dietetics, I trusted her judgement, and jumped at a chance to give these snacks a try. I’m so glad that I did! Although in the past I’ve never particularly enjoyed jerky, my mind has been completely changed.
Words I would typically use to describe jerky: dry, salty, though. Meat-flavored. I know it’s a bit of an oxymoron, but being as how I don’t particularly enjoy meat for the strictly meat-taste, jerky always turned me off. But, these are not words I’d use to describe Simply Snackin!
The jerky is moist, and the flavors are delicious. They use natural ingredients to add complementary flavors to the meat, and offer chicken jerky, as well as beef. Plus, each serving comes in at 60 calories, which is just insane for a filling snack that also provides 10 grams of protein.
Flavors include:
- Beef Sirloin with Cranberries and Blueberries
- Beef Sirloin with Apples and Cherries
- Teriyaki Beef Sirloin with Pineapples
- Chicken Breast with Italian Seasonings and Romano Cheese
- Chicken Breast with Black Bean Salsa
- Teriyaki Chicken Breast with Mangoes and Papayas

I tried to pick a favorite flavor to tell you about, but it was just so hard! Obviously, I loved the Chicken with Black Bean Salsa, but I also loved the Beef Sirloin with Pineapples. Plus, the Chicken with Mangoes and Papayas? Forget about it! A variety pack is NOT the worst thing in this case! I didn’t try a single flavor that I had something bad to say about.
Although I’d love to always eat whole, fresh food, to me, these really provide a viable alternative that’s great for someone on the go. I would completely consider adding this to my snack repertoire – it meets all my criteria!
I loved this jerky so much, that I asked the company if they’d consider giving some of it away so I could let you try it – and they agreed! So, THREE winners will be receiving a 12 pack assortment of their very own. Then YOU can decide what your favorite flavor is!

I’ll have to take a look! I can’t believe how much sugar the adult ones have. I used to eat them a lot, until I started paying more attention to the nutrition label.

I usually have a bar of some kind in my purse … granola bar, Atkins bar, Weight Watchers snack bar. I did have some jerky at one point, but I ate it all — and it was just boring old teriyaki flavor. I’d love to try the Simply Snackin’ varieties.
