I realize it’s Sunday, but on Thursday evening, we lost electricity and I wasn’t able to write my Fitness Friday post. We were pretty busy this weekend with my nephew’s fourth birthday (I can’t believe he’s growing up so fast!) so I wasn’t able to get this written until today.
Hopefully Katie will forgive me for both posting, and linking up, late.
I wanted to post Friday, because Friday was officially ONE MONTH UNTIL M-DAY!
M-Day, my new word for the day of 26.2. I finally actually signed the papers (so to speak) and registered for the full marathon. I’m a bit of a procrastinator, I’ll admit.
So although it still doesn’t quite feel real, I’m doing it!
I’ve been trying to keep up appropriately with my training due to this, though things have been a bit wonky with starting Crossfit. In the last few weeks, though, I’ve done two twenty mile runs, and a 14 mile run, as my “long” runs for the week. I won’t say the 20-milers were easy, though the second one was easier than the first. One, due to increased endurance, and two, due to a 20-degree temperature difference.
Sunday, September 15: 5 miles at pace (treadmill) + 2 mile walk at Healthy Living Summit (a birdie told me that the 5k was only two miles).
Monday, September 16: 20 miles (second shot at this). I was struggling a bit more than I’d like towards the end, but I blamed it on the at pace miles from the day before & all the walking we’d done in Minneapolis during Healthy Living Summit.
Tuesday, September 17: I was stiff from my 20 miles, so I did a slow two miles to loosen up (which helped a TON) followed by rolling & stretching.
Wednesday, September 18: Crossfit! A sweaty, sweaty time.
10 min Turkish Get Ups (with barbell) (15lb)
3 rounds for time
- 800 m run
- 25 ab mat sit-ups
- 10 HSPU (modified to pikes)
- 15 box jumps (20 inch)
- 10-barbell bent row (55 lb)
Thursday, September 19: Workout DVD (was going to Crossfit, but storm of the century prevented that!). I did one that I was reviewing for a magazine. I wasn’t looking forward to it (it looked kind of girl) but it was great! It was a 30 minute, full-body, low impact circuit workout. I was feeling the burn by the end!
Friday, September 20: Rest
Saturday, September 21: 14 miles – nothing to report, although I couldn’t shake the feeling of being stiff. Part of the problem, I think, was that I really didn’t want to do it. I wanted to get back to my sister’s place for birthday fun. But, I’m glad I knocked it out.
I did find a lake in Cedar Rapids to run around. Pretty, if you ignore all the industrial stuff around it.
Not the heaviest week on running, but I am utilizing cross training with my training pretty heavily. Plus, I got to do a bit of running at the one Crossfit class I made. I was bummed to only get to Crossfit once for the week, but I’m trying to remember that it will still be there after the marathon. No need to mess up my training now!
How’s your training going, if you’re doing any?
